OFSA is the Ontario leader in advocacy and ethical business advancement for funeral homes both independently and family run. They provide their members with resources, training, support, professional development and together have established a strong peer network.
THE CLIENT
We wanted to address the issues with their current site head-on – the unorganized and clunky user experience of the site, the happy corporate feel established by their photography choices, and the usability issues with their members-only back-end. We created a site with a clear and concise navigation that grouped all pertinent information together in logical places, we created calls to action on every page to make it simple for potential new members to find out more about joining OFSA, and we used typographical hierarchy to help guide the user through the content easily. We did not want to use images that were pointed directly at the funeral industry so we used a mix of hopeful and indistinct corporate images to allude to the fact that first and foremost the OFSA is a resource for businesses. We created a back-end for members that systematically groups the extensive amount of resources into digestible and logical categories, thereby helping their members to more easily find the information they are seeking, and potentially bring to light similar information that they could potentially use as well.

Create a website for OFSA that organizes their vast collection of member materials so it is easy for their members to find the information they need, that acts as a resource for grieving families that need information and support, and also promotes the association to potential new members.
